NOCTEUN & RETINUE

Lord Inquisitor Nocteun
Elric Nocteun is a very senior member of the Ordo Hereticus. The ancient man exudes a palpable aura of menace from beneath his dark robes, one that not even the prominent rosette at his side can explain. No one is quite sure whether this is a well concealed psychic ability or some impressive form of archeotech, though a good many would like to find out. Though gaunt and aged, Nocetun's profile is still straight, and his black hair only streaked with silver. He dresses in billowing and heavily ornamented robes. His deeply lined face bears a small goatee, and his small, deep set eyes hold little warmth.

Nocteun is pushing a millennium in age, and it is a rare threat that he deigns to deal with in person these days. His network of agents and allies is vast, and his ability to wield it deftly from afar is more potent than even his impressive personal power. An Amalathian, Nocteun spends most of his time steeped in some of the most secret (and oldest) work of the Ordo Hereticus and the Calixian Conclave. A psyker himself (of many talents and high control but not a great amount of power), he is particularly obsessed with the Ordo's unwritten mission: to safeguard humanity's evolution into a psychic race. He was latent for the first 100+ years of his life, and as such is a firm believer in the psychic potential which lies within all. He has little interest in the so-called Tyrant Star, and sees Lord Inquisitor Caidin's focus on it as a waste of good resources. Nocteun believes it to be a passing threat deserving of no more special focus than any other.

Johnathan Summerset
Johnathan is a handsome man with bright blue eyes and golden blond hair. It would be easy to mistake him for a young man, did his white and gold power festooned with purity seals not tell a different tale. He carries a bolt pistol on his right hip and a short power sword on his left. Johnathan can be found out of his power armor as much as in it (still choosing to dress in white). Charming and kind, he is so good natured he seems dreadfully out of place in the dark halls of Ordo Hereticus, and certainly as the Interrogator of the ominous Lord Nocetun.

Despite his position, Johnathan is one of the most approachable members of Nocteun's retinue, and takes the duties of leadership seriously. He is devout, and his answer to a great many questions comes down to faith in the Emperor. Johnathan was originally recruited from the Cadian Imperial Guard in the adjacent sector, to serve Inquisitor Hans Barrier in Ordo Malleus. However, Johnathan eventually discovered Barrier's radical tendencies, and was apalled. He was a rogue agent for some time before eventually being persuaded to join Nocteun. Barrier is one of the few subjects Johnathan does not like to talk about, another being his past with a certain Assassin.

Magister Drackon Krayl
Few can call themselves more a victim of the Malygrisian tech-heresy than then man now called Drackon Krayl. Krayl was a venerated Magos at the outbreak of the Heresy in 742. But he was also apprentice to an apprentice of Malygris. And unbeknownst to him, a great many of his implants were actually xenos in origin. He discovered this during the course of the great hunt for Malygris.

Horrified that his very body had been turned against his own tenets, Krayl had the presence of mind to take revenge rather than despair. Realizing that Krayl was pure in mind if not in body, Nocteun secretly helped the Magos remove all of the tainted implants, and gave him a job as lorekeeper. Krayl's former identity is a secret known only to himself and the Inquisitor Lord.

Krayl had to be outfitted with some technology simply to keep him functioning, though he had what he could removed. Krayl knows he can never openly go back to his cult, but rigorously observes all the rites to the machine spirits around him. He is a vigilant and suspicious man, covered with odd scars from his many surgeries. He wears simple brown robes, and has a few odd patches of gray hair across his otherwise misshapen head. Over the years he has learned to mimic some human mannerisms, but is still a source of frequent faux pas, and not very talkative.

Technology is at once still a source of awe, wonder, and fear for the poor man. But he is adamant in his hate of xenos, and particularly xeno-tech (which he is none the less an expert in).

Sasha Riklovich
Sasha is an ex-Hiveworld criminal from Fenksworld. She had already been outfitted with numerous augmetic upgrades, mainly focused on enhancing reaction time when she was arrested by local law enforcement for her part in a smuggling operation. Fortunately or unfortunately, the incredibly nimble gunslinger caught the eye of one of Nocteun's agents before seeing trial.

Sasha spent the first decade of her service to Nocteun in an explosive collar. She's still less than pleased with her current predicament (too scary!), but has seen enough to know she can't escape the Inquisition now.

Galatea
It's fair to wonder if anyone knows the true identity of the Callidus assassin designated Galatea, even her. This long-standing member of Nocteun's retinue has been asked to infiltrate so many corrupt organizations that little remains of her sanity. A firm believer in the sacrement of blood, Galatea relates to others largely through mimicking them. Her psychological addition to polymorphine is tolerated only because she is such an efficient killer.

Haze Triplan
Haze wears leather clothes with too many buckles. His muddy black and brown hair whips after him in a long braid, and a pair of well-polished revolvers are always at his side. To any Scintillan the black power scent of Gunmetal City practically wafts off of him.

Freidrick Iandus
Iandus is one of the Inquisitor's senior retinue members. He is a sanctioned psyker with an affinity for telekinesis. Too many mind-shattering missions and a long relationship with the warp have left him with a few noticeable quirks. He is unable to shake a sensation that the physical world is clumsy and imprecise. This displays itself as constant motion: pacing as he strives he find a position where he is comfortable, frequent shifting of posture as he tries to avoid contact with his robes. He is terse of speech and short-tempered, his mind caught up in a constant battle with the temptation to over-use his abilities to avoid interacting with the physical world. So far he has managed to keep control, but he is certainly under scrutiny, especially with the past indiscretions of other trusted agents... Friedrick was taken on a black ship and sanctioned in his youth, before eventually being recruited out of the Scholastic Psykana for Inquisitorial service. A native of Dreah, he is thin and greyish-skinned, with a pointed chin and colorless hair. He bears a sanctioning brand prominently on his forehead.

Markashik
Markashik was born on Faldon Kise. Coming from a planet so full of suspicion and rife with mutation, he is naturally sullen and laconic. He is dark-skinned with dreadlocks and deep-set eyes. He typically wears loose fitting clothing that allows ease of movement, with armor plates covered in various small machine bits. He carries a very nice, obviously modern spear with circuitry in it, and has an obvious port along his arm where it can plug in. Markashik specializes in telepathy, and also has some combat-oriented divination powers.
